HERMÈS OPENS ITS NEW BOUTIQUE IN WUHAN, INSPIRED BY THE UNIQUE

CHINESE CITY LANDSCAPE

Hermès is pleased to announce the opening of a new boutique in the recently inaugurated Heartland 66 shopping center in Wuhan. This new address extends over two large floors, the sixteenth of the house trades waiting to be discovered. Opening on the 13the In July 2022, it replaces the old site in Wuhan, which had been welcoming customers since 2012, and underlines the house’s renewed commitment to the thriving metropolis.

Designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the project is inspired by the city as a place of cultural exchange between France and China, as well as the unique geographical nature of Wuhan. Located in central China, it is known as a crossroads between several provinces, with the Yangtze River running through its heart.

The store facade is a stunning addition to the exterior of Heartland 66 Mall, a new shopping destination opening in 2021, and reveals the store’s overall theme of verticality – inspired by the rifts dividing mountains , the narrow openings create a dynamic, architectural sense of movement and direction. Inside, the store’s entrances are marked by gradients of warm ocher ceramic tiles, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels revealing hints of what awaits beyond the threshold.

Crossing the mosaic carpets with emblematic Faubourg motifs and ex-libris, the entire ground floor opens up in front, offering a vibrant palette of collections of silk, leather goods, ready-to-wear and men’s shoes . The space is lit by traditional Greek lights – designed for Hermès in 1925 and found in its boutiques around the world. Underfoot, warm terrazzo features ocher and brown marble and shimmering mother-of-pearl; a nod to the water running through the city.

At the heart of the store, the lights of the staircase are filtered by vertical bamboo panels. Upstairs, guests arrive directly in the space dedicated to home collections. In the ready-to-wear and women’s shoes area, a mezzanine overlooks the lower floor, creating an impression of openness and fluidity. Each job is distinct yet harmoniously connected, accented by bright coves and plush carpets ranging from deep peach to light pink, turquoise to sand.

In the jewelry and watch area, the walls are covered with Japanese paper weaves, creating an impression of preciousness, accentuated in the generously sized VIP lounges where hand-painted silk panels in abstract compositions create a refined and intimate. A happy set of

the works of art, both classic and contemporary, reflect the roots of the Émile Hermès Collection and integrate harmoniously into the boutique.

Welcoming existing customers and new guests, the new store in Wuhan offers visitors a warm and spacious experience that combines the city’s distinctive atmosphere with the creativity and innovative craftsmanship of the Parisian house.
