Floyd Merlin Hermes | Valley Press/Mineral Independent
Floyd Merlin Hermes was born March 2, 1952 to Francis and Norma Hermes in Missoula. Floyd grew up in St. Regis, where he graduated from high school. Floyd returned to heaven to be with his parents, brother Bob and sister Barbara on February 12, 2022 in Gillette, Wyoming.
Floyd loved the rodeo. He enjoyed being a clown in rodeos throughout Montana and Idaho as well as enjoying country dancing and won many contests as a young man. He was a drywall professional, he and his friend Shorty headed east to build pole barns where he met his wife, Corinne.
They married on April 10, 1992. Floyd worked many years as a truck driver for Campbell County Road and Bridge and more recently XPO Logistics, as well as driving a bus for Powder River transporting coal miners to and from work .
Floyd and Corrine rarely missed a rodeo and enjoyed taking road trips across the West. They found salvation, Jesus, were born again and baptized together, and were members of Family Life Church at Gillette.
Corinne’s boys Mike and Mark could always make him laugh and enjoyed spending time with him. Floyd loved watching westerns on television. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Corrine; brother, Jim (Terri) and John (Audrey) and sister-in-law Gloria Hermes as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be held at St. Regis Cemetery on June 25 at 11 a.m. We will then meet at the St. Regis Senior Center to share a meal.
