On Thursday, the upscale hotel group announced it would open one of its properties in the island nation by 2025. Dubbed Bulgari Resort Ranfushi (or “little golden island” in Dhivehi, the country’s official language ), the resort will be built on an island in Raa Atoll, just 45 minutes from Male airport by seaplane.
When construction is complete, it will house 54 bedrooms (including a Bulgari villa on a separate exclusive island), 33 beach villas (each with its own pool) and 20 overwater villas, all of which will have access to a range of amenities. luxury. . These include a fitness center, yoga pavilion, and private library, as well as a Bulgari Bar and Bulgari Spa. The tropical oasis covers 20 hectares, just under 50 acres.
Ranfushi will be the group’s 13th hotel since opening its first property in Milan in 2004. Since then, it has opened hotels everywhere from Dubai to Paris, all of which embrace the brand’s modernist sensibility. To apply similar codes to its future complex, the company will continue to work with architectural firm ACPV Architects and its founders Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel, who designed all other properties under the Bulgari umbrella. (The company will open a location in Miami in 2025 and a location in Los Angeles in 2026.)
The Maldives location will offer four distinct dining options, including Italian cuisine at Il Ristorante – Niko Romito (hosted by three-star Michelin chef Niko Romito); Chinese food at Bao Li Xuan (the twin of the two-star Michelin restaurant at the Bulgari Hotel Shanghai); hoseki, a Japanese concept found at the Bulgari Resort Dubai; and Italian beach cuisine courtesy of The Spiaggia. After eating, you can browse the Bulgari boutique or La Galleria, a concept store where a luxurious selection of clothing, accessories and more from top designers will be available.
